Yes, I know. It’s been WAY overdue. I should have been one of the first to watch it. But maybe it’s because I wasn’t ready then.
See, I never read the books. I tried, I really did. But for some reason I couldn’t get past them.
The movies however, I have watched the movies countless times. Anytime I get a craving to watch them, anytime it’s on ABC Family, any chance I can get. The movies really did make an impact of sorts for me. And I know some of you think that the books are many times better than the movies. And they probably are since the books are what created the movies.
But the movies are also a medium that changed those that didn’t read the books. Because through the movies you not only see these characters come to life, but you see an entire world come to life.
When I was young, I saw the actors do impossible and incredible things. I saw people my age run through walls and get sorted into houses. I saw flying cars and trees that could get angry. I saw dragons and people on flying brooms.
Now that I’m older, I not only see that again and again, but I see the effort and time that was placed into these films. The sets and the castles. The robes and colors, and the rooms and moving staircases. I hear the music that represents this world. I see the effects that bring the magic to life, and the people who portray these characters that go through an incredible journey.
It’s not only about Harry Potter and Hermione and Ron, but it’s about a company of people who brought something to life, something that others can see and believe in.
So maybe that’s why I put off watching the last movie, because I didn’t want to see this end. It’s been one heck of a journey and I’m a little bit sad and a little bit happy about this ending.
